Fertilizer

Rentech Energy Midwest Corporation (REMC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Rentech Inc., located in East Dubuque, Illinois, manufactures and sells natural gas based nitrogen fertilizer products including ammonia, urea ammonia nitrate, urea granule and urea solution to the U.S. corn-belt region. REMC ships over 600,000 tons of nitrogen fertilizer per year, providing nutrients for over 4 million acres of U.S. farmland.

REMC has a long-term distribution and sales agreement with Agrium Inc., a leading global producer, marketer, and retail supplier of agricultural nutrients and industrial products. In addition to nutrients, REMC manufactures industrial products such as food-grade carbon dioxide used by the food and beverage industry for "flash" freezing and carbonating beverages. REMC also produces nitric acid for a number of industrial applications in the manufacture of other products such as steel, paint, and the dairy industry for sanitizing purposes.

We have largely completed the design and engineering work to convert REMC to coal gasification should economic and public policy factors favor the conversion.
